What “factory-direct” actually changes
Most furniture in Ahmedabad sells through one of three structures. First, the online-first national brands — Pepperfry, Wakefit, Wooden Street — which run studios in Bodakdev and on SG Highway and ship from Bengaluru or Mumbai warehouses. Second, the local resellers — they have a showroom, they take orders, and someone else (often in Saharanpur, Jodhpur, or one of the cheaper Narol units) makes the piece. Third, the manufacturer-and-shop combos — the same business owns the workshop and the showroom floor. Icon Furniture is in the third group, and it changes four practical things for you.
- Price. There’s no middle layer taking 20–30% margin. A ₹40,000 sofa from us would cost ₹52,000–₹60,000 retail through a typical reseller network. We’d rather pass that through to you than amortise it across more showrooms.
- Lead time. Reseller stock comes from somewhere far. Ours comes from the room next door. In-stock pieces ship to your home in Ahmedabad in 24–48 hours.
- Service. When a leg loosens in year four, the carpenter who cut it is still in the building. Resellers ship you to a call centre; the call centre ships you back to the original manufacturer; you get a quote three weeks later.
- Truth. You can see the foam stamp, the FSC certificate, the half-cut frame on the workshop bench. Resellers can show you photos. They can’t show you the wood.
In stock vs made-to-order — and why it matters this week
Roughly half of what’s on the floor at Narol is in stock — built, finished, ready to load on a truck. The other half is catalogue pieces that build to order in 2–4 weeks. If you walk in and need a sofa delivered before Diwali, ask for the in-stock card before you fall in love with something built-to-order. We’ll mark on the price tag whether a piece is on the floor today or three weeks out. Made-to-order isn’t worse — sometimes it’s the only way to get the fabric you want — but it changes the timeline, and we’ll always tell you.
What our delivery actually looks like
Free white-glove delivery and assembly across Gujarat. Our own crew, our own trucks — we don’t use Porter or third-party logistics for furniture. The team brings the piece into your home, removes the packing, assembles on-site (most pieces are 15–30 minute installs; full bedroom sets ~90 minutes), takes the cardboard back with them, and tests every drawer, hinge and reclining mechanism before they leave. In Ahmedabad city, that’s typically 24–48 hours from the moment you confirm the order. To Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhuj — 4–6 days. Anywhere in Gujarat — within a week.
No-cost EMI, decoded
We do no-cost EMI for up to 12 months through Bajaj Finserv and the major bank credit cards. The honest version of how this works: the bank charges its standard interest; the merchant (us) absorbs the cost in exchange for the volume. The total amount you pay on your card matches the sticker price — there’s no “processing fee” quietly tacked on the way some other shops handle this. We’ll show you the exact monthly debit before you sign anything.
The 7-day fit exchange
Furniture buying has one common failure mode that nobody talks about: the piece looks right in the showroom, then arrives in your room and isn’t quite the right scale. We give you 7 days after delivery to flag a fit issue — wrong proportion, wrong fabric in your light, wrong arm height for the bed. We’ll come back, take it, and you pick a different piece. Conditions: the piece must be unused, photographed in your room within 7 days, and our team takes it back. We absorb the return transport. This is the one policy we don’t make people fight for.
