Solid wood is not a finished product the way a phone is finished. It breathes — absorbs moisture in monsoon, releases it in summer. Knowing this changes how you care for it.
Once a month, lift everything off the surface and run a dry microfibre cloth along the grain. Never a wet cloth.
Every 3 months, apply a thin coat of teak oil with a lint-free cloth. Wait 20 minutes, buff off the excess. Use teak oil, not linseed.
Wet ring? Dab dry within 5 minutes. If a ring forms, a few drops of mayonnaise overnight pulls the moisture out. Sounds odd; works.
In July–September, run an air mover or fan in the room a few hours a week. Don't place wood furniture against an exterior wall.
In May–June, keep the room below 32°C if you can. Hairline cracks at the joinery are normal seasonal movement — they close in monsoon.
Around year 5, we'll come refinish the high-touch surfaces (tabletop, dining edges, sofa armrests) at cost. Book through the showroom.
