Use the soft-brush attachment, low suction. Run along the grain of the weave. Get into seams and under cushions.

Blot immediately. Water on water-soluble stains (tea, coffee). Mild soapy water on oil. Never rub — rubbing spreads the stain.
If your sofa has removable covers, wash at 30°C, gentle cycle, no fabric softener. Air-dry, don't tumble. Re-fit while slightly damp for a tighter finish.
Boucle and some velvets pill in the first 6 months. A fabric shaver (~₹400) clears it in 5 minutes. Pilling stops naturally after the loose fibres are gone.
